Reading Landscapes was started by Russell Reading in 1987. Six months later, John McAllister, who was working full time in Northern Virginia, started working part-time for Reading. As the business quickly grew, John realized that opportunities were great in his hometown and started working for Reading Landscapes Inc. full time. The first year of business was conducted out of John’s parent’s home with 2 trucks. When the tractor trailers started delivering weekly, it was time to move to a new home. In 1988, Reading Landscapes moved to its current home on North Frederick Pike. In 2005, John bought Reading’s interest to become sole owner. Now, with a staff of 30+, Reading Landscapes Inc. has grown into a well known full service landscape company throughout the Shenandoah Valley.
